Window cleaning in the rain sounds like it’s a counterproductive exercise, right? But in England, rainfall is something we see more of than any other weather, so it seems. Even with all the sunshine we just had.
The idea that cleaning windows in the rain is a pointless venture is not true.
Nevertheless, it is a commonly held belief that windows should not be cleaned when it rains because the rain will make them dirty again.
Rain falls from above unless it’s windy, so a lot of the time, it won’t actually soak all of the windows on your building and, depending on the direction of the wind, will typically only affect half of the property.
If your windows and frames have been cleaned properly in the past by one of our team, then the rainwater will just run down the window and should leave very little or no dirt or spots on the glass.
The evaporated water that falls as rain does not contain the same amount of calcium and dissolved minerals as the water that comes out of your tap, so it won’t leave anywhere near the spotting and marks that you would find if you washed the glass off with your garden hose.
The main culprit for spotting is limescale and dirt washed down from the frames.
If you receive a regular clean from us, you will not even notice the minimal amount of residue left by rainfall.
When cleaning your windows in the rain, we make sure there is no dirt on your frames, sills, and glass, so it will not affect the overall finish when raining.
We are so confident of this we offer a Rain Guarantee. Let us know within 48 hours, and we will schedule a re-clean.
We prefer to work in the lovely sunshine, however, due to our number of customers and busy rounds. If we skip the cleaning of windows every time it rained, we wouldn’t be able to complete our rounds. Or be able to provide a regular cleaning service.
